Marsai Martin‘s Genius Entertainment has tapped veteran development executive Jamila Jordan-Theus as head of motion picture.
“Jamila is dedicated to bringing bold, new projects to life that inspire and uplift the next generation,” Josh Martin, co-founder and president of Genius Entertainment, said in a statement. “We are excited to have her join our team and bring new opportunities and content through Genius Entertainment.”
In her new role, Jordan-Theus will oversee the development and production of feature films for Genius Entertainment, working alongside Nicole Dow, head of television for the production company.
“I am thrilled to join the Genius Entertainment family and look forward to working with creatives who are committed to ushering stories that help shape how we see the world and ultimately how we view ourselves,” Jordan-Theus said. “I look forward to continuing to produce uplifting, fun and inspirational content that is also culturally purposeful and socially reflective.”
Jordan-Theus has more than 15 years of experience in the entertainment industry, developing and producing TV and film projects for Netflix, Disney Plus, CNN, TBS, OWN, FOX and YouTube Originals. She previously worked as a creative executive for LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Company, managing and producing the content slate and specializing in docuseries formats and documentaries. Prior to that, Jordan-Theus served as director of unscripted development for Sirens Media / ITV Studios.

Genius Entertainment was founded in 2019 by actress and executive producer Marsai Martin, who at 14-years-old became the youngest EP in Hollywood history with the hit comedy film “Little.” The same year, the production banner inked a first-look deal with Universal Pictures with the comedy “StepMonster,” in which Martin would star as a teenager adjusting to life with a new stepmother, as its first film in development.
